The best path: Javier de la Cuerda article

After just over two years immersed in the exciting path of creating a reference company in the cloud world, it is time to take stock and share some of the key elements in our learning and progress. Trying to structure the guiding thread of this article, I anticipate that I will talk about the four fundamental axes of our development, which are: Market, Differentiation, Innovation, and Equipment.

It is evident that Market finds in the public cloud the ideal solution to the dreamed alignment between Business and Information Technologies. After some years of certain tranquillity, voices that anticipate an imminent world crisis begin to emerge. The great increase of the debt during the last years which has supported a fictitious growth that could trigger a situation of recession as we remember not many years ago. In this situation it is more than evident that companies need to be prepared for this kind of challenges. Data analytics tools allow us predicting and controlling how sales will evolve and consequently the cost of production, although it is necessary that this information is aligned with the availability of systems to be able to support such evolution. Today and more than ever, companies require technology to dynamically accompany the elasticity of demand. In this situation, you need to control the return on investment of each resource involved. Complete flexibility is required in the infrastructure outsourcing model. It requires technological partners with high expertise, who integrate the most appropriate technologies, selecting agnostically manufacturers, proposing to use the best of them depending on each situation. There is a need for tools to control the use of resources and that facilitate knowing clearly the cost associated with each project or line of business. The companies flee from long-term contracts that can not be interrupted if the service received or the same evolution of the business does not accompany.

With the initial analysis of the needs of the market, a clear opportunity arises for new suppliers that opt ​​for an approach based on Differentiation. This differentiation involves fleeing the traditional model of IT outsourcing and betting on open technologies that avoid dependence on infrastructure or technological services that end up becoming the "alien" within the organization itself. It means providing at the precise moment the transfer of the service to the same client or to third parties when required. It also implies opting for a completely dynamic service model tailored to the specific needs of each customer. It includes providing tools which supply control and optimization of the multi-cloud and hybrid environment, defining performance indicators that set the reduction of the Information Technology bill as an objective. It also defines an open environment, based on payment for real use that avoids relying on any resource, rather human or material. An environment that evolves at the same time with technology and that facilitates customers to take full advantage of the providers that are more convenient each time.

Innovation is the key to achieve differentiation and to respond to market needs. This innovation should be focused on simplifying the complexity that the great speed and heterogeneity of the solutions of the cloud providers and technological manufacturers generate for the clients. For service providers, the commitment to innovation is a way to maximize all the advantages of new technological advances in favor of customers. They should be oriented as open tools that do not generate dependencies in the future and should also be sustainable as long as they provide value to customers. The innovation of the supplier supposes a guarantee for the client in the measurement that demonstrates the highest qualification and in itself it guarantees to have a companion of trip with which will be possible to innovate and to evolve permanently in the own processes.

Finally, I will talk about which is, in my opinión, the most important axis: The Team. The achievement of Innovation, Differentiation and the response to Market needs can only be achieved by a firm commitment to have the best Team. This means having people who bring diversity, who think of how to improve processes, who know how to work side by side and with generosity, always putting what is best for the customers. People with the highest level of demand in terms to quality, who bet on learning every day and who appreciate technology. For this, they must enjoy the open environment, feel involved and taken into account, being recognized their growth opportunities and get them to feel the project as their own. Achieving a perfect team is the key to success.

From our birth as a company we have wanted to respond to the needs of the market by providing a differentiation-based approach as the company specialized in the cloud environment (the cloud enabler company). I am convinced that we have a lot to learn, do and grow, although I have no doubt that with our fantastic team we are on the best path.
